Benefits of Puppy Training Classes
A lot of people recognize that puppy obedience is a wonderful thing, but were you aware that attending puppy training classes is good for your dog? Which means that it is not only the training, but the socializing that helps your dog take care of himself well in the world.
There are some reasons that going to puppy training classes helps your dog.
For starters the distractions that are natural in a class of puppies and owners will help your puppy focus much better. That way when you’re out of the class structure and in a more public place, your dog will be familiar with the distractions and will listen better to you.
Another good reason that puppy training classes are beneficial to your puppy is that they give your dog a chance to make friends with other puppies and people. This is really great for their emotional development because is makes them much less afraid of people when they go out in public places.
Yet another reason to attend a class with other participants is so that in addition to getting the advantage of being around other dogs, you can get help from the instructor should you run into problems. Dog obedience instructors are properly trained in a lot of behavior situations so you might find it quite valuable to receive input from the instructor if your puppy is having some behavior issues.
In addition to the puppy training classes, it’s required that you will work on training your dog outside of the classroom. There will be no way for the dog to remember what exactly he has learned from week to week if you are not training with him throughout the week. Try to work with him every day, however do not over do it.
One sure sign that a puppy is being over trained is they will behave as if they have forgotten almost everything. If this happens, simply back off and give him a break for a few days and then little by little start getting back into a training routine.
In addition to training, your dog could actually make some buddies in the class. It’s a lot of enjoyment for dogs to play with other puppies so if your puppy makes a buddy, see if it will be possible to get together with his new friend to make “play times.”
